Terry Pratchett Brief Biography

Terry Pratchett was born on April 28th, 1948, in Beaconsfield. He chose to attend High Wycombe Technical High School rather than the local grammar school because he felt 'woodwork would be more fun than Latin'. At that time he didn't know what career to pursue and remembers himself as a 'nondescript student'. At the age of 13 he had his first story published, a promising start. His first job was a provincial journalist, started in 1965, then he went on to become a press officer for 4 nuclear plants. The breakthrough came in 1983, when he wrote his first Discworld novel, The Colour of Magic, this and the following titles in the series (The Light Fantastic, Equal Rites, Mort and Sourcery) were hailed by critics and found numerous readers across the world. So far Terry Pratchett wrote over 30 novels in the series, possibly breaking the record in fantasy series writing. He currently lives in Wiltshire with his wife Lyn and daughter Rhianna.
